Walk along the little lane that turns off Melford Rd (opposite the Chaucer Estate) and enjoy the leafy hedgerows. As you round the corner be prepared to be amazed at the site of a mill pond fed by the river Stour, simply choc a block with swans of all ages.

Generations of Sudbury children have fed these beautiful creatures and we can think of no better way to spend a few hours with or without children. You can then walk along the Valley Path towards Sudbury enjoying the elevateed views over the Water Meadows and River Stour. The pathway is a rough track and bridleway so you will need a sturdy buggy. Sudbury town itself is one mile from Brundon Mill.

I have been coming here since my childhood- some forty years and the sight of these birds as you round the corner and arrive at the bridge straddling their pond is simply breathtaking. Make sure you bring s bag of torn up bread or other bird food for a free activity that the children and you will not forget in a hurry.

Wear stout shoes and bring a decent buggy if you wish to walk further. You can go onto Melford or Sudbury along the Valley Walk and there are several bus companies providing regular bus routes along the main road so you won't get stranded with tired toddler (or older) legs. Both Melford and Sudbury have a plethora of places to eat, drink and attend to toilet needs and you will find many of them listed on this site should you widh to make a day of it.
