It was the Empire movie house, then the ABC, the Coronet and after 10 years closed, the corner building was reopened in 1999 as the Genesis Cinema, and independent film house that besides the latest blockbusters, frequently holds small movie festivals and special sessions (in partnership with Close Up film club from Brick Lane, for example).
It has one big main screen and three smaller ones. And in the latest "Studio 5", decorated with sofas and velvet curtains, you can see a movie sipping a glass of wine.
At the café down on the street, you can get a "Nude" coffee (one very good roastery and coffee houses in the area, located in Hanbury Street).
The also hire spaces for "conferences, corporate hospitality, private parties, live music, and quiz nights or any themed night that would benefit from a dynamic space."
