Inspired by a true story, the film follows four vivacious, young and talented Australian Aboriginal girls The Sapphires, billed as Australia's answer to The Supremes, from a remote mission as they learn about love, friendship and war - Vietnam style.
The year is 1968 when protests and revolution was everpresent in the streets. Indigenous Australians had finally secured the right to vote. There were drugs and the shock of a brutal assassination. Cynthia, Gail, Julie and Kay are discovered by Dave, a good-humoured talent scout with a kind heart, very little rhythm but a great knowledge of soul music.
Stow Film Lounge will be serving organic coffee, fairtrade tea, organic juices and pastries.
Comfy boothed seats and individual chairs with plenty of room for buggies. Baby changing mats and toilets are available. The lighting will be slightly higher.
Times and prices are subject to change. Contact venue before setting out.
