Battersea Power Station

Battersea

The iconic Art Deco power station, designed by Giles Gilbert Scott, supplied electricity to London from 1933 until it was decommissioned 50 years later. There followed three decades of dereliction during which plans for its redevelopment – as a nightclub, football club and even a Disneyland - came and went. Now, as part of the 39-acre Nine Elms regeneration site, the Grade II listed power station is to be redeveloped into apartments. The site will eventually include over 3,400 homes, a theatre, offices, shops, gardens and galleries.
