On Tuesday 2nd December from 7pm Elif Shafak, author of The Forty Rules of Love and Honour will be appearing at Kenilworth Library to discuss and sign her new book, The Architect's Apprentice.

The Architect's Apprentice is set in the sixteenth century and based around a young boy, Jahan, who arrives in Istanbul as a stowaway with an extraordinary gift for the Sultan. The extraordinary gift is a valuable white elephant called Chota who Jahan has raised from birth. Jahan and his elephant embark on an epic adventure meeting deceitful courtiers, false friends, gypsies, animal tamers, and the beautiful, mischievous Princess Mihrimah, along the way. The story charts Jahan's rise from a simple Mahout (a person who works with and rides an elephant) to the highest ranks of the Sultan's court. The story is atmospheric and captivating and full of magic and colour.
