2017 Date: TBC.
Fitzrovia Festival is a non-commercial celebration of Fitzrovia's life and history. It was first held in 1973 and was billed as “The people live here festival”. For three decades it was a street festival but in recent years it has become a smaller event but it is still a strident celebration Fitzrovia's residents and the neighbourhood's life and history.
Fitzrovia Neighbourhood Association organises Festival as part of its charitable objectives with the purpose of raising the profile of Fitzrovia as a place where people live, fostering a sense of pride in the community, and promoting the arts.
Unlike the media portrayal of the area as “upmarket” and “swanky”, Fitzrovia is very mixed with the majority of people living in rented accommodation. There has been a history of community action since the 1970s and this continues today
