It is believed that sheep have been farmed in Britain since the early Neolithic/Bronze period. Their wool would have been and still is an important product. The museum has on display a bone weaving comb and stone spindle whorl both found in the local area dating back to the Iron Age, these would have been used to process wool for weaving.
