    28-Nov-2013 Report

My husband, toddler and I stayed here last weekend.
Two hours of static traffic and a forgotten bag later, we got there and were shown to our room. There was a huge four poster bed. The room was warm and welcoming with a bowl of fresh fruit awaiting us. There were GHD straighteners. The bath was huge and freestanding and inviting. And suddenly, I was no longer stressed.
It got better and better. Dinner was held in the shabby chic surroundings of the inn downstairs. Lots of lovely touches, like the stacks of books piled up in corners.
Dinner arrived, and for me it was mushrooms on toast, followed by munchkin pumpkin risotto with onion rings on the side. All prepared at short notice, as the chef hadn't got the message I was vegan, and all completely delicious.

Go and see for yourself. It's 50 minutes on the motorway from Glasgow when not stuck in rush hour traffic, and just what two tired and slightly stressed parents needed as a pick me up. Even with a naughty two year old who stayed up till midnight while his mum and dad watched Shakespeare in Love, one of my favourite films, on the giant TV from the comfort of our four poster. And the breakfast was great, too. Five stars all round.
