Sandbrook Playgroup

Stoke Newington

Sandbrook Community Playgroup is based in a quiet residential street in the heart of Stoke Newington.

Our experienced staff follow all aspects of the Government's Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum Most importantly, they are trained to give children the chance to learn through play.

As a community playgroup we're different from private and school-run nurseries in that we are parent-led.

Professional staff take care of the children and plan their activities, while parents are responsible for running the playgroup.

It's this special partnership that creates our safe and loving home-from-home environment and gives children the confidence they need to thrive in the all important years before starting school.

We are supported by the Hackney Learning Trust.

We take children from 33 months to five years

What a great place to be for a little person. Very warm and friendly!!! My son loves it as it is more like visiting a friend than being in a group childcare. Staff is very helpful and do their best to help with settling in. There is a large variety of toys and activities available for example baking, music, yoga etc. They also organise food testing activity each term. What a creative and inspiring place to be. Would recommend to anyone!

My little girl really likes Sandbrook. It was recommended to me by my neighbours and I'm extremely impressed. She's become a lot more chatty and playful since she's been attending the playgroup. It's a very warm creative place and she seems to have settled in easily

Sandbrook is a very welcoming and friendly parent run playgroup with excellent facilities. Weekly activities vary but they may include sport and yoga sessions, music sessions, ict and not to forget my child's favourite food and cooking sessions.
This playgroup is linked closely to local schools and offers combined care with school nurseries. This includes pick-up from local schools and a lunch break at Sandbrook before an afternoon session.
Staff is excellent and happy to offer help and support where needed and parents are welcome to come in to help out with the children's activities, which is such a good way to get to know all the friends!
I have my 3rd child going there now and can't praise it enough!

My kids (twins) have been at Sandbrook for a month and are loving it. They had had no experience of childcare before so I was apprehensive, but the staff are so friendly and thoughtful, the boys just run in at the door without a backward look. They are identical and the staff have made a point of learning to recognise the tiny differences so that they can tell them apart and treat them as individuals. I would (and have) recommend it to anyone!

Sandbrook playgroup has provided a happy and safe place for my child to be independent. He settled really well, which was a worry as he had never been away from his parents before. The staff made sure that he felt confident and he now goes in without a backward glance! They do many activities with the children and it is a stimulating environment for my boisterous child. It is also small enough to feel personal and more like a home away from home. We are very happy with the way that the staff have tackled any issues and would reccommend Sandbrook to anyone - in fact we already have!
