Master Pieces, taking us from the Classical Period to Modern Times
The course will offer an intensive introduction to the history of Western Art, concentrating on the fine arts. Sessions will use important Master Pieces to explain and focus on interesting aspects from different historical moments in the arts. Lessons will provide an overview of many of the most important movements in art, its key artists, and reference to its historical context.
Lectures will introduce a series of themes at the beginning of each sessions, go into depth about a particular work of art, and finish with the chance to participate in informal discussions to enhance your learning and share experiences and opinions.
Artemision Jockey, Les Tres Riches Heures du Duc de Berry, The Arnolfini Portrait, Self-portrait Caravaggio, Ecstacy of St. Theresa, Marriage Portrait of Isaac Mass en Beatrix van der Laen, Pierrot (also known as Gilles), Odalisque, Guernica, Convergence. (relevant classes will cover the Caravaggio and abstract expressionism exhibitions on in London this Autumn)

£15 per 1.5 hour lecture, coffee and tea included (or £120 for a series of 10)
