Petersham Nurseries

disabled access

A beautiful place by the Richmond riverside specialising in the English gardening tradition Petersham Nurseries is a tranquil oasis and seedbed of inspiration. With an ever growing emphasis on sustainable gardening, 2008 saw the launch of the Cutting Garden project, the Home Grown range of vegetables, herbs and salads and a blueprint for the agreeing of the nurseries. The unique styling of the plants is complimented throughout the one acre site by garden antiques and original artefacts, carefully sourced from Britain, Europe, India and the Far East by the Bogliones and their buying team.

A delightfully quirky cafe restaurant draws its own admirers. The Cafe offers a short menu of seasonal dishes to be eaten amongst the flowers and plants.

If the nursery itself wasn't photogenic enough, it is set at the centre of an Arcadia created in the 18th century.

This is the place we always try to visit while we are out for a walk along Richmond Riverside. Not only this is a place to buy some plants or flowers for your garden but is a fantastic place to tickle your taste buds. The cafeteria serves a high quality organic food and the baby change facilities are great for families. Besides sitting and sipping a warm cuppa in the glasshouse surrounded by beautiful plants gives one Elysian peace! A true gem tucked between Ham House NT and The Thames!
